First of all, it turns out I am such an inconsistent blogger (we will call it “busy mommy”) that I forgot to post when we found out…

IT’S A GIRL!!!

We are so excited to have a little girl, we’ve been hoping to have at least one of each, and now we will! I definitely screamed like crazy from excitement!! We did have everyone at the party guess what we were having, as signaled by the colored plates. Notice Kent and I both chose blue... I think we were just trying to not get our hopes up one way or the other and blue was a safe choice :)

THE NAME

For the last year and a half, whenever we talk about our future kids, we always referred to our “future daughter” as Mackenzie. So when it came time to pick her name for real, we just kept going back to that over and over. I think that was her name before she was ever conceived!! And we wanted her middle name to have a family tie (like Carter’s middle name is Reeves, which is Kent’s middle name, as well as his brother, dad and grandpa). SO, we thought using my middle name was neat for our daughter. But, Mackenzie Danielle is pretty long, so we just cut it in half! Her full name is…

24 WEEKS

I am 24 weeks pregnant today and everything is going pretty well. I have occasional discomfort, usually caused by greasy foods or standing and working on things for too long, but otherwise I feel good! I am so blessed to (thus far) have had two easy pregnancies. Hopefully it stays that way!

The last few weeks have been fun as Mackenzie grows, making it easier for me to feel her moving around. And in the last couple days, we have even seen her move across my tummy a few times! Feeling her move is my favorite part of pregnancy – it’s just so special knowing she is inside me growing! And of course every time she moves, I am reassured that she is still doing ok. I keep praying for everything to go well and for her to be happy and healthy when she gets here. I know God will protect our precious baby!
